An Affiliation is simply a relationship between a Contact and a Movement. An affiliation record has a few fields that define a contact’s relationship with a movement. These fields will modify access, change involvement numbers, etc.
Role Type: Participant, Volunteer Leader, Staff (Users can only see data from movements where their role type on the affiliation is Volunteer Leader or Staff. Participants can’t see any movement data, even if they have a user record. FYI- Student Leader = Volunteer Leader.)
Primary: This checkbox will determine someone’s Primary movement. A primary movement determines the default movement on radio buttons for a user. Also, if a primary movement is an AIA movement, Connections[Beta] will turn indigo and have a few additional options. Functionality is the same though.
Engagement Level: Open, No Longer Interested, Open, Try Later, Involved, Engaged Disciple, Multiplying Disciple, Staff, CoLaborer (This field is used to calculate involvement numbers. Staff and CoLaborer are used for people who are not a part of the target audience of the movement, so they aren’t counted in the involvement numbers.)
Status: Current, Former (This field is pretty straightforward. We use the former status instead of deleting affiliations to have a historical record of involvements.)
