Knowing Jesus Christ is the most exciting relationship you can have. It is the beginning of a life of tremendous adventure with an all-loving, all-powerful God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Would You Like to Know God Personally<\/em> booklet concisely explains all a person needs to know to begin a new life in Christ. A brief review of this will help us as we look at some principles of growing in your relationship with Christ:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PRINCIPLE 1:<\/strong> God loves you and created you to know Him personally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PRINCIPLE 2:<\/strong> Man is sinful and separated from God, so we cannot know Him personally or experience His love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PRINCIPLE 3:<\/strong> Jesus Christ is God\u2019s only provision for man\u2019s sin. Through Him alone we can know God personally and experience God\u2019s love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PRINCIPLE 4:<\/strong> We must individually receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; then we can know God personally and experience His love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KEY QUESTION:<\/strong> How can a person who has received Christ know with certainty that he will spend eternity
with God?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can know<\/em> that you have a secure personal relationship with God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CONFIDENCE IN YOUR NEW RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You can be confident in your new relationship with Christ because you have been completely forgiven and accepted by God. Only Christ\u2019s death on the cross is sufficient to provide this proper relationship with God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

READ Ephesians 2:8, 9<\/strong> \u2013 Three important words in these verses explain the basis of our acceptance before God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GRACE: Unmerited favor, an underserved gift<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Q. What role did grace play in establishing your relationship with God?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A. You didn\u2019t deserve this relationship nor did you earn it by any good works. Rather it is a free gift from God that you
accepted when you received Christ.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SAVED: Rescued, spared from disaster<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q. What do you think this verse means by saying you are saved? From what are you rescued?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A. Romans 6:23 says that the final result of sin is death. When you received Christ\u2019s death on the cross as a payment for your sins, you were rescued from eternal condemnation \u2026 from having to pay the penalty for your own sin.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

FAITH: Belief, trust, commitment of mind, attitude, action<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q. What does faith have to do with receiving Christ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A. Simply put, faith is believing or trusting God and His Word. When you received Christ, you put your trust in Christ and His death for your sin. Instead of believing in your own ability to earn God\u2019s favor, you now trust that you have been reconciled to God through what Christ has done for you.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

KEY QUESTION:<\/strong> Suppose you were standing before God and He asked you, \u201cWhy should I let you into heaven?\u201d What would you say?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UNDERSTANDING TRUTHS ABOUT YOUR NEW RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are many exciting things that are true in your new relationship with Christ. Understanding these truths will help you build a firm foundation on which to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christ forgave your sin.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Read Colossians 1:13, 14. When you trusted in Christ for the forgiveness of your sin, all your sins were
forgiven \u2026 past, present, and future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What difference do you think it makes to know your sin is forgiven?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christ made you a child of God.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

READ John 1:12 <\/strong>\u2013 When you received Christ, you began a loving relationship with God. Christ came into your life and He will never leave you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under what circumstances might Christ leave you?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christ gave you a new life.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

READ 2 Corinthians 5:17<\/strong> \u2013 When you trusted Christ to be your Savior and Lord, you began a new spiritual life. God will increasingly produce many new qualities in you as you grow in Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christ gave you eternal life.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Read 1 John 5:11-13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On what is eternal life based?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When does a person\u2019s eternal life begin? When will it end?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

KEY QUESTION: <\/strong>If you were to die tonight, how sure are you that you would spend eternity with God?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These wonderful benefits are based totally on Jesus Christ. None of them can be earned. You received them the moment you placed your faith in Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEALING WITH DOUBT IN YOUR NEW RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Even though feelings are important, your relationship with Christ is based on facts, not on feelings that can
change daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doubt, questions, and varying emotions are common parts of everyone\u2019s life, but they are very unreliable gauges of anyone\u2019s relationship with Christ. The Christian lives by faith in the trustworthiness of God and His Word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The train will run with or without the caboose, however, it would be useless to attempt to pull the train by the caboose. In the same way, Christians do not depend on feelings. Place your faith in the trustworthiness of God and His Word. The more you learn of His Word, the more you will be able to answer any doubts with solid facts. Your feelings will begin to respond to the truth of God\u2019s Word and not your circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
